We are SUPER STUDENTS!

To begin the year, we discussed the difference between a "silly" school and a "SUPER" school.  Students learned the importance of having helping hands and listening bodies. Every student created his/her own hand and shared how they helped others.

Super students are super listeners!  We encourage our super listeners to...
  • sit criss-cross with hands in lap
  • have eyes and ears on the speaker
  • not interrupt others as they are speaking - be patient!
  • raise hand when wanting to share

Look for these SUPER behaviors from your child and  praise them for their efforts!

We ROCK KINDNESS!

Even a little act of kindness can go a long way!  After sharing a story about kindness, we created our own ripples in a large bowl of water to demonstrate how our act(s) of kindness can spread to many people.  The students came up with MANY acts of kindness.  The following are only a few:
  • saying "hi" to others they meet in the hallway, sidewalks, etc.
  • hold the door open for others
  • help clean the house
  • include everyone
We also discussed how we are all special.

2nd and 3rd grade - our KIWI ACTIVITY left the students with the message of "It's what's on the inside that counts.
4th graders found their "Super-Hero" self by identifying their strengths and weaknesses.

Be sure to ask your child about the act of kindness they strive to do and how they are special!
